Day 3: Fez
This day is dedicated to the discovery of the ancient city. We meet at 10 am for a guided tour.
A visit to Fez is like a journey back in time: a well-preserved medieval city with its narrow streets – barely wide enough for donkeys – bazaars and an old medina surrounded by a continuous series of ramparts and gates. Medersa Attarin, the Nejarin Fountain, Medersa Bu-Inania, and the tanneries are among the main attractions in Fez. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Fez – Merzouga
Departure from Fez in the direction of IFRAN. Crossing the High Atlas with AZROU and passing by the largest cedar forest in North Africa. Then the MIDELT pass, then crossing the ERRAHIDIA dam, the magnificent panorama of the ZIZ valley, crossing the town of ERFOUD. Then we’ll drive to the dunes of ERG CHEBBI, take camels to the bivouac (in nomadic tents) in the middle of the desert, and enjoy the sunset in the immensity of the dunes. Overnight in the desert in a bivouac at the foot of the dunes.
Day 5: Merzouga – Dades Gorge
After sunrise 1-hour camel ride to a nearby lodge, where you can take a shower and have breakfast.
The route then leaves the desert and leads to Rissani, where you can visit an ancient fortress and kasbah. After lunch, the journey continues through an area rich in fossils, small villages, and oases to the town of Tingerhir. We will take you to Todra Gorge’s cliffs and Dades Gorge’s cliffs. There you will have dinner and spend the night in a charming riverside guesthouse.
Day 6: Dades Gorge – Caves – Skoura – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we leave the road to visit the caves on the mountainside where the nomads live, have a glass of tea, and then go for a walk.
